Caring for your Haven Mattress

Maintenance

To get the most out of your Haven mattress, there are a few steps you should follow to maintain the durability and quality.

1. Rotate Your Mattress

For the first 6 months of sleeping on your Haven, rotate your mattress every month so that the end that was near the headboard, is now at the foot. After the first 6 months, rotate your mattress every 3 months. Be careful to never grab the top 2" layer to move the bed. The vented latex can be accidentally torn when put under the extreme load of the entire mattresses weight.

Make sure to lift the mattress from underneath! In the old days, we used side handles connected to the steel frame. Over time, those handles bent the frame and caused premature suspension failure.

Why is this important? Rotating your mattress ensures that you’ll be putting pressure on a different set of springs when you sleep, which will not only prevent sagging and provide more support where you need it most, but will also safeguard the longevity of your mattress (experts say flipping a bed at least once a year can make it last 5-7 years longer). The same goes for an all-foam mattress—you should still rotate it 180 degrees every few months to ensure it wears evenly.

PRO TIP! Once in place, inspect for any dirt or damage. Small holes can easily be sewn with traditional needle and thread.

2. Use a Quality Bed Frame to Support Your Mattress

Your mattress should be supported by an acceptable foundation or bed frame that prevents the mattress from bending or bowing. To avoid structural damage and voiding of your warranty, double, queen and king size sets must also be used with a rigid centre support with a leg. Haven mattresses can also be supported by a flat floor.

3. Use a Mattress Protector to Keep the Mattress Clean

Cleaning

Haven mattress covers are not removable and you should avoid getting the mattress wet. If your mattress becomes soiled, spot clean the cover with a mild detergent and a warm damp cloth. Laundry spot removers can be used on more stubborn stains. Do not use an iron or excessive heat on the mattress.

To extend the life expectancy of your Haven bamboo cover, consider using a super well-vented mattress protector. Please note, some 100% waterproof protectors may block some of the Haven's natural airflow foam and latex ventilation. We recommend Bedface mattress protectors as they allow the same airflow as a mattress without a protector.

Caring for your Sheets

Percale and Sateen products

Our Bedface Percale and Sateen sheets come pre-washed and ready for sleep. We recommend washing in cold water and then tumble drying on low heat. We recommend washing our Bedface sheets once a week.

To avoid wrinkling, do not overcrowd dryer and promptly remove once dry.

Satin and Silk products

The washing and maintenance methods of real silk and satin are as follows:

1. Wash

It is recommended to wash as little as possible. If you really need to wash, wash in cold water on delicate cycle or hand wash. Be careful not to rub too roughly!

2. Drying

After washing, lay it flat on a dry towel, use a dry towel to absorb water, roll up the product and press dry before drying, do not wring it out, do not expose it to the sun.

3. Ironing

If you feel a little wrinkled after drying, lay a layer of cloth on the product and iron it with a steam iron, being careful not to press to avoid the filling being pressed together.

4. Store

Store in a cool and ventilated place, avoid direct sunlight, do not place mothballs, store in a storage bag, and avoid direct contact with sharp hard objects.

Caring for your Pillows

Cleaning

It is important to properly clean and maintain our Bedface and BluSleep foam pillows. Unzip the cover, remove the foam pillow, and machine wash in cold water. NEVER put the foam pillow in the washer or dryer. Hang the cover to dry completely before use. Do not iron or bleach the foam pillow and its cover.

What happens if my foam pillow becomes spoiled?

Using a clean towel, press firmly into the pillow to absorb any excess liquid. Delicately spot treat by hand with mild detergent and warm water. Be careful to not scrub too hard and use gentle cleaning agents. Allow the foam to dry completely before use.

How often should I wash my pillow cover?

We recommend washing your pillow cover every 2 to 4 weeks.

How often should I replace my foam pillow?

We recommend replacing your foam pillow every 2 to 3 years or when it starts showing signs of wear. Using a pillow protector can also increase the longevity of lifespan.
